Permissions

Omni asks for the permissions its features need, and never for Administrator. Here's what they're for and who can use which commands.

What Omni asks for

  • Moderation: Kick, Ban and Timeout members, Manage Messages, View Audit Log. Used by /mod, auto-mod and anti-raid.
  • Roles and names: Manage Roles and Manage Nicknames, for level roles, self-roles, verification and streak names.
  • Channels: Manage Channels, Manage Threads and Manage Webhooks, for tickets, stat channels, temporary voice channels and threads.
  • Messages: View Channels, Send Messages, Embed Links, Attach Files, Read Message History, Add Reactions and External Emojis, for cards, embeds and the starboard.
  • Voice: Connect and Move Members, for voice XP and moving people between channels.

Removing a permission only turns off the features that need it.

Role order matters

Discord only lets a bot hand out roles that sit below its own role. Open Server Settings โ†’ Roles and drag Omni's role above every role it should give: level roles, self-roles, the verified role and so on. If it's below, those roles just won't be given.

For safety Omni never hands out roles with Administrator, Manage Server, Manage Roles, Manage Channels, Manage Webhooks or Ban Members, even when asked to.

Who can use which commands

  • Everyone: fun and info commands like /level, /top, /eco and /play.
  • Moderators (Moderate Members): /mod, /automod, /autoresponder, /suggestion and granting achievements.
  • Admins (Administrator): /setup, /config, /settings, /modules, /xp, /levelroles, /feeds, /gamenight and /reset.

These are only defaults. Change who can use any command in Server Settings โ†’ Integrations โ†’ Omni. The commands page marks each command with who can use it.

Who can use the dashboard

The server owner and anyone with Administrator or Manage Server. A few destructive tools, like wiping member data, need the owner or Administrator.
